From Signal - the World's First Auto-flow Control Pump

PZiA

The world’s most advanced and intelligent metering pump, the Signal S100 PZiA.

The most advanced and intelligent metering pump in the world, a new solenoid pump known as the S100 PZiA has been launched in the UK by Signal Metering Pumps.

Designed for use in chemical dosing systems where relatively small volumes are pumped, the new ‘smart’ pump has already been successfully pioneered by a major international chemical provider in the paper and pulp industry and is seen as having applications in many industrial processes, including water treatment. Specific uses include small-scale disinfection, plumbosolvency, fluoridation, phosphate removal and others.

At the heart of the PZiA is a directly-coupled flow checker, which continually monitors and compensates for any fluctuation in flow rate. Typically, a bolt-on flow meter can be expected to work within an accuracy band of ±10 per cent. Because of the system-direct communication between the new Signal pump and its integral flow checker, an accuracy rate of better than two per cent is achieved.
The new pump offers a variety of functions, including auto flow and batch control modes, through which a much more accurate control of discharge volumes can be expected, leading to reduced chemical wastage and reduced process cost.

Exceptional control versatility comes from the closed loop communication between pump and flow checker, which is via analogue and digital inputs and outputs. A 4-20mA input/output enables feed forward and feed back control, enabling the process to be controlled either from an on-site control room, or entirely remotely from a lap-top anywhere. This takes the PZiA beyond being just a pump - more a complete system in its own right. It has one other unique feature – a ‘smart’ power selector that automatically adjusts for any input between 90 and 264volts, without affecting the performance of the pump.

Because of its intelligent design with integral flow checker, the new Signal pump is also much easier and quicker to calibrate, eliminating the traditional need for adjustment and readjustment of stroke or frequency and the use of a stopwatch.
